We’re delighted to announce that our Family Gardening Day will take place on 1st August. It promises to be an extravaganza of fun lessons and activities for youngsters with seed sowing, cookery demos and a class on vegetable and fruit nutrition. If you want to find out more about developing new varieties of flowers, fruit and vegetables, then now is your chance as the Family Day takes place at our Trial Grounds. The purpose of the day is to highlight the benefits of growing your own food and to explain where this food comes from and also its various nutritional value. Children will have the opportunity to learn how to grow seeds and also to cook with the food they can grow. It should be a great day for fun and education, and everyone is welcome to this enjoyable event – entrance is free and you don’t need to book!
Dawn Shute, member of the charity’s Torbay, Newton Abbot and District Friends Group will be at the Open Days. “This event is a great family day out but is also really useful for keen gardeners who have questions for the experts. We will be at the Open Days at the Children’s Hospice South West stall and hope that people will come over and introduce themselves and learn a bit more about this special charity on their doorstep.”
The event takes place between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 1st August 2009 at Suttons Trial Grounds, behind Fermoy’s Garden Centre, Totnes Road, Ipplepen, Newton Abbot TQ12 5ST. We look forward to seeing you there!
