Crocosmia in full bloom

crocosmiaI just love Crocosmia – in Devon it seems to grow wild in many of the hedgerows but it also makes a great border plant. We’ve got some in the front garden and the other morning, on my way to work, I couldn’t help being struck by how beautiful it looked so I took this snap. I’m not 100% sure but I think this variety is Crocosmia Lucifer.

I love this flower too. It does seem to like the Devonian climate. I have some in my garden – it just appeared last year. I hacked it right back last winter – but it’s still there. Brightening up a particularly dull bit of my garden…. I didn’t actually know it was a crocosmia till I read your post. Learn something new… etc. etc.
