Win Suttons Vegetable Seeds Starter Kit

Tomato Seeds – F1 Sweet Million

As a cordon variety, ‘Sweet Million’ grows from just one stem

Producing glossy, cherry-sized tomatoes, ‘Sweet Million’ is a very heavy cropper with an excellent flavour – ideal for eating straight off the vine or adding to lunchboxes as a tasty snack. 

Tomato ‘Sweet Million’ seeds should be sowed under cover and then transplanted into grow bags, large containers, or planted directly into the ground. All these plants need to produce a bumper crop is plenty of sun along with regular feeding and watering – no greenhouse required!

Pea Seeds – Hurst Greenshaft

To enjoy a summer of delicious homegrown veg, simply sow Pea ‘Hurst Greenshaft’ seeds every two weeks from March. Awarded an RHS Award of Garden Merit, ‘Hurst Greenshaft’ is a double-podded, maincrop variety that produces up to 11 peas per pod. 

Yielding delicious, sweet-tasting peas, this reliable variety can be eaten fresh, grown for exhibition, or even frozen for later use – which means you’ll be able to enjoy the taste of summer all year round!

Beetroot seeds – Rainbow mixed

If you want particularly sweet flavour, try harvesting them when they’re still just baby beets!

Providing an amazing array of coloured beets including deep purple, neon yellow, pure white and the gorgeous pink-ringed chioggia – this seed mix is lots of fun!

The perfect container crop, sow your Beetroot ‘Rainbow Mix’ seeds into medium-sized pots filled with good quality compost. They should germinate within a couple of weeks, and crop within 12 weeks of sowing! Just make sure you keep the soil moist, and that your developing plants are in a sheltered and sunny place.

Bean (Climbing French) Seeds – Cobra

Awarded an AGM by the RHS, this popular climbing bean variety will become a family favourite in no time!

A vigorous climber that yields up to a third more beans than its predecessor, ‘Cobra’ produces flavourful, stringless bean pods up to 20cm long. A force to be reckoned with, these long-cropping climbers can be harvested well into autumn, if picked regularly.

Sow your Climbing French Bean ‘Cobra’ seeds undercover in April, or directly outdoors in May/June. Just remember to give the plants plenty of support so they can reach their maximum height.

Cucumber Seeds – F1 Burpless Tasty Green

If you don’t have a greenhouse, this outdoor cucumber is a high-yielding and reliable cropper that produces incredibly moreish, delicious fruits. And with a really long harvest period, you can enjoy these tasty cucumbers up to the very first frosts!

Perfect for summer salads or sandwiches, start your Cucumber ‘F1 Burpless Tasty Green’ seeds on a sunny windowsill in spring, and move them to their final outdoor positions in June.

Lettuce Seeds – Little Gem

‘Little Gem’ is our best-selling lettuce variety, producing delicious, crisp, bright green leaves. You can pick the heads of lettuce whole, or treat it as a ‘cut and come again’ crop.

This dwarf lettuce is ideal for growing in window boxes, patio containers or even indoors on a sunny windowsill. Ready to harvest in just 10 weeks – try sowing your Lettuce ‘Little Gem’ seeds at intervals every 14 days to maintain a steady supply.

Courgette Seeds – F1 Defender

A prolific fruiter, Courgette ‘Defender F1’ provides excellent bang for your buck and keeps cropping all through the summer. A wonderful vegetable for beginners, this variety holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit and can be successfully grown in the ground or containers. 

You only need to sow two or three Courgette ‘Defender F1’ seeds to enjoy bumper harvests. Start them off on a bright windowsill, and transplant the seedlings to a sunny spot outdoors once they’ve developed three to four mature leaves.

Radish Seeds – French Breakfast 3

Radishes are the ultimate beginner’s vegetable. Quick and easy to grow, simply sow your Radish ‘French Breakfast 3’ seeds directly into their final position and they’ll be ready to harvest in just four to eight weeks. 

Awarded an RHS Award of Garden Merit, this attractive red-skinned radish is a popular variety ideal for containers and window boxes. Colourful and crunchy with a strong, clean flavour, chop it into salads, or slice thinly and drizzle with lemon before sprinkling with salt.
